Technical Services Manager

The Technical Services Manager will have a technical background and experience in the field of customer service. They will be responsible for overseeing the technical service/support department, the qualification process of new equipment, and commissioning of equipment in the field. VIEW PRINTABLE VERSION

Primary Responsibilities

Ensure that the Service Department operates smoothly and effectively:

  • Oversight of department staff and tasks

  • Oversight of qualification and commissioning tasks

  • Collaboration with all departments to meet customer requirements

Essential Duties

Oversee the technical service/support department including:

  • Ensuring timely response to support tickets

  • Ensuring the development of reasonable work plans for on-site service visits

  • Providing advanced troubleshooting and support (both mechanically and electrically) for all service/support activities

  • Liaise with engineering and sales to ensure customer issues are resolved

  • Solicit feedback on services provided in a continuous improvement effort

  • Manage installation/service events, including on-site functions as needed

Oversee the commissioning of equipment:

  • Verify initial upload of code

  • Coordinate initial component setup, function testing, and system debugging

  • Liaise with engineering as needed to ensure correct system performance

Oversee the Qualification Process for new equipment including:

  • Coordinate the qualification process, including the completion of all standard and system specific tests

  • Ensure qualification process is properly documented including record of issues encountered and changes made between power on and machine shipment

  • Understand customer/system specific requirements to ensure proper qualification procedures are completed

  • Review qualification procedures routinely to maintain process functionality and improvement

  • Manage installation/service events, including on-site functions as needed

Perform other duties as necessary. These may include:

  • Assist with the development and accuracy of system documentation

  • Perform electrical tasks including field wiring and panel assembly, especially during qualification and installation

  • Perform mechanical tasks including assembly/disassembly, especially during qualification and installation

  • Minimum B.S. Degree or equivalent experience in related field

  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and related skills

  • Knowledge of electrical assembly and related skills

  • Experience with PLC programming and programming software is preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, seeing each task through to completion, while maintaining a high level of quality and confidentiality

  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively
