Best Practices: Maintaining and Upgrading your HEPA System

Posted May 5, 2017

Recent changes to our standard HEPA units make maintenance tasks easier and less costly.

Proper maintenance of the HEPA fan/filter unit is critical to the overall function of the system. Failure to properly care for this crucial component can result in contaminated products leading to waste. Fortunately, recent changes to our standard unit have made HEPA maintenance both easier and more affordable.

Prior to 2016, standard ONLINE systems shipped with Clean-Ceil fan/filter units. These units include a pre-filter that requires periodic washing. The main filter has an average life expectancy of three to five years and is attached with a fitted seal. This fan unit has been discontinued, however the replacement filter is currently still available.

Since 2016, ONLINE systems have shipped with new Design-Aire fan/filter units. These units eliminate the need to wash the pre-filter through the use of disposable pre-filters. The main filter, attached simply with a series of easy access brackets, has a life expectancy of five to seven years, a two year improvement over the previous model. In addition to the longer life, the new filter is less expensive than the previous filters.

An upgrade kit including a new fan/filter unit and corner mount brackets is available in both the 2×2 and 2×4 sizes. The easy to install mounts allow customers currently using a Clean-Ceil unit to upgrade to a Design-Aire unit in about the same amount of time that it takes to replace the filter on a Clean-Ceil fan/filter unit.
